How we're helping NHS workers impacted by Covid-19

Posted on:

In this, our first blog of 2022, we're looking at an exciting new piece of work for Relate Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester's counsellors.

We are currently involved in an innovative new project working with the Cheshire & Merseyside Resilience Hub, where we will be providing a free counselling service for employees in the NHS, Social Care & Emergency Services in the region who have been impacted by Covid 19.

A dedicated team of experienced counsellors from Relate Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester will be providing Cheshire & Merseyside Resilience Hub workers with up to six sessions of free counselling.

Staff will be directed to an “NHS Hub” landing page on the national Relate website or to a free phone number. After an initial call to the “NHS Hub”, where appropriate, staff will be directed to Relate Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester’s counsellors for their free counselling sessions. Counselling will be via webcam using Zoom, or by telephone.

A successful pilot of the scheme was run recently and the project will set out to provide support and build resilience for a wide range of NHS, Social Care and Emergency workers employed by the Trust.

The service is available to all staff in the NHS, Social Care & Emergency services who work in Cheshire & Merseyside from Monday 14th February 2022 and is expected to run for 3 months.

Relate Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester CEO Hilary Barrett said:

*“Our main objectives for this scheme are to help CMRH staff & partners recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have all heard what a pressured environment NHS workers have been operating in during the pandemic and it’s very exciting for us all at Relate Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester to be involved in a project that looks to reverse some of the impacts of Covid-19 on NHS staff.”
