Who We Are


Relate Cheshire & Merseyside is a local charity that has been supporting healthy, happy relationships for more than 40 years. We now also operate across Greater Manchester as Relate Greater Manchester.

Relationships with family, partners, friends and colleagues play a big part in how happy we are. Whether you're facing difficulties, looking to strengthen your relationships, or want help thinking things through, we're here to support you.

We can help you if you’re single or in a relationship, straight or gay, young or old. Whatever your circumstances we’re dedicated to helping you get the most out of your relationships, no matter how big or small the issue.

We are governed by a Board of Trustees, all of them volunteers, who are committed to helping everyone have healthy and happy relationships.

What We Do


We're here to help you make the most of your couple and family relationships, past, present or future. We can help you even if you're not currently in a relationship.

We are a source of support. Our services include relationship counselling for individuals and couples, sex therapy, family counselling, counselling for young people, and telephone counselling. We also deliver a range of specialist services for organisations involving training, counselling and group-work.

How much does it cost?
Relate is a charity and we aim to charge only enough to cover the cost of delivering our services. Rates may vary depending on what other funding we are able to secure. Contact us for up to date information.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our policy is to ask for payment for counselling appointments in advance. This is to minimise wasted appointments and unnecessary costs. If you need to cancel or change an appointment we are able to refund any fee, or reschedule the appointment at no additional cost, providing we are notified of the change at least 48 hours in advance. If cancellations or changes are made less than 48 hours in advance, we reserve the right to retain the full amount of the advance payment.
How do I make a complaint?
We aim to provide you with a good experience and high-quality service. Most of the time we do this, but sometimes we don’t get it right. Sometimes we make mistakes or perhaps don’t explain things as well as we might. If you feel that’s the case, then please tell us straight away or as soon as you can.
